About This Site
Editorial Standards
We run tours in Shenzhen every day. Our guides, blog posts, and tour descriptions reflect what our team witnesses on the ground — verified monthly against first-hand experience, official sources, and live local context. Here is exactly how that works.
Our source hierarchy (what we trust, in order)
- 1
First-hand operational data
Our guides lead tours almost every day. Pricing, wait times, app quirks, and pickup logistics come from this week's observations — not from what the internet claimed last year.
- 2
Official sources
Pony.ai's own safety reports, Shenzhen Metro's official maps, National Immigration Administration for visa rules, and the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau for robotaxi regulations. Linked inline where relevant.
- 3
Verified customer feedback
Real quotes from tour guests, post-tour surveys, and questions we hear repeatedly on the day. If five people ask the same question, it becomes an FAQ or a blog post.
- 4
Published secondary sources
Reporting from Fortune, Reuters, state-run outlets, and independent travel writers — treated as leads, not facts. Anything from secondary sources gets verified in person before publishing.
Verification cadence
| Content type | Verified | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Tour pricing | Monthly | Tiered prices, child/youth rates, promo codes |
| Tour itinerary | Monthly | Stop order, timing, closures, flagship store hours |
| Travel guides | Quarterly | Visa rules, metro lines, SIM options, app setup steps |
| Blog posts (tech) | Monthly | Robotaxi coverage zone, drone drop points, new flagships |
| Blog posts (evergreen) | Quarterly | Safety, scam patterns, border crossing procedures |
Tour detail pages display a "Verified [Month YYYY]" badge in the hero so you always know when the pricing and logistics were last checked.
Who writes this site
La Roja Travel was founded in 2024 and has been operating tours continuously since. Our editorial team consists of working tour guides based in Shenzhen — not remote writers researching from abroad. The byline "La Roja Travel" on blog posts means the content was drafted by a guide and reviewed by at least one other team member who led the same type of tour in the last 30 days.
Lead author Sawyer Liu has worked as a Shenzhen tech tour guide since 2024 and specializes in autonomous vehicles, drone delivery, and the Nanshan tech corridor. See About La Roja for the full team.
What we won't do
- ✗Publish untested advice. Every app setup step, every payment workaround, every border crossing tip has been tried by a team member in the last 30 days before it hits the site.
- ✗Recommend anything we would not book for our own family. Our tour lineup, the partners we work with, and the flagships we send guests to all pass the "would I bring my cousin here?" test.
- ✗Hide outdated content. When something genuinely changes — Pony.ai expands its coverage zone, Meituan adds a new drone drop point — we update the affected pages and note the verification date.
- ✗Fabricate reviews or stats. The ratings you see (5.0/5 from 21 reviews for Inside Shenzhen Technology) are real GetYourGuide-verified bookings. We link to the source where relevant.
How to flag a correction
If you spot something out of date — a price we have not updated, a flagship store that closed, a metro line we mis-described — please tell us at hello@larojatravel.com. We correct verified issues within 48 hours and note the update in the affected page.
Read something you can trust
