Apollo Go

(萝卜快跑)Tech

Baidu's robotaxi service, China's largest self-driving fleet by ride volume. Operates in Wuhan, Beijing, Chongqing, and others. Not yet operational in Shenzhen — Pony.ai is the dominant operator here.

BYD

(比亚迪)Tech

Shenzhen-headquartered electric vehicle and battery maker, surpassed Tesla as world's largest EV producer by volume in 2023. Flagship showroom and museum in Pingshan District. Supplies EV batteries to Tesla, Toyota, Ford.

Dapeng

(大鹏)District / Place

Shenzhen's eastern peninsula with protected coastline, Ming-dynasty fortress, and beach towns. Less developed than urban Shenzhen, popular for weekend escapes. Home to Dapeng Fortress Heritage site and Jiaochangwei surf beach.

DJI Sky City

(大疆天空之城)Tech

DJI's Shenzhen headquarters campus in Nanshan, completed 2022. Two twin towers connected by sky bridges, occupying 46,000 m². Public lobby has product gallery and demo area. Not open to unscheduled visits on upper floors; tour access available.

Drone Delivery

Tech

Commercial drone logistics for consumer orders, measured in minutes rather than hours. Shenzhen has the world's densest drone delivery network. Main operators: Meituan (food) and SF Express (parcels). Pickup via rooftop or street-level lockers.

(亿航)Tech

Guangzhou-based eVTOL manufacturer, maker of the EH216-S passenger drone. First Chinese eVTOL to receive type certification (2023). Demo flights operate in Guangzhou and occasionally Shenzhen Bay. Commercial passenger service launching gradually.

eVTOL

Tech

Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft — battery-powered passenger drones designed for short urban hops. Unlike helicopters, quieter and cheaper per flight hour. Chinese regulators approved first commercial passenger eVTOL routes in 2024.

Futian

(福田)District / Place

Shenzhen's central business and government district. Home to Ping An Finance Center (the city's tallest building), the municipal government, and Futian Port for Hong Kong immigration. Metro-dense and connected to Hong Kong MTR via Lok Ma Chau.

Huaqiangbei

(华强北)District / Place

World's largest electronics market district, occupying roughly 1.45 km² in Futian. Key malls: SEG Plaza, Huaqiang Electronics World, Manha. Sells components, finished consumer electronics, prototypes, and clones. Nearest metro: Huaqiang Road or Huaqiangbei station.

Meituan Drone

(美团无人机)Tech

Meituan's consumer drone delivery service, launched commercially in Shenzhen 2022. Delivers food and grocery orders in 15–20 minutes via designated rooftop or street cabinets. Operates in Nanshan, Futian, and Bao'an. Customer pickup via app QR code.

Nanshan

(南山)District / Place

Shenzhen's tech-industry heart. Hosts Tencent, DJI, and the Shenzhen Bay Innovation zone. Pony.ai robotaxi coverage is densest here. Most English-speaking services, international schools, and tech company campuses are concentrated in Nanshan.

NIO House

(蔚来中心)Tech

NIO's branded experience lounges — part showroom, part café, part members' club. Shenzhen's flagship is in Nanshan. Open to visitors without appointments; serves coffee and hosts owner events. Showcases NIO ES-series and ET-series electric vehicles.

Pony.ai

(小马智行)Tech

Chinese autonomous driving company, NASDAQ-listed in 2024. Operates the largest Level 4 robotaxi fleet in Shenzhen — over 3,000 vehicles covering 60 km² of Nanshan and Qianhai. Consumer-facing app is PonyPilot+ (Chinese language, local payment required).

Self-driving taxi with no human safety driver behind the wheel (SAE Level 4 autonomy). Operates within a geo-fenced service zone using lidar, radar, and cameras. In Shenzhen, Pony.ai dominates; fares run ¥8–15 per ride at 2026 promotional pricing.

SEG Electronics Market

(SEG 电子市场)District / Place

The landmark electronics tower in Huaqiangbei — 13 floors of component stalls, repair shops, prototype assembly, and phone accessories. Ground and first floors cater to walk-in tourists; upper floors serve industrial buyers. Open roughly 10 AM to 7 PM daily.

Shekou

(蛇口)District / Place

Western Nanshan coastal sub-district, former fishing village that launched China's 1979 economic reforms. Now a mixed expat neighborhood with ferry terminal to Hong Kong and Zhuhai, Sea World plaza, and casual dining. Starting point for many tech tours.

Shenzhen Bay

(深圳湾)District / Place

Coastal inlet between Nanshan and Hong Kong's New Territories, bordered by the Shenzhen Bay Park seaside promenade. Popular for evening bike rides, skyline photography, and the Shenzhen Bay port entry/exit to Hong Kong.

Unitree

(宇树科技)Tech

Hangzhou-based quadruped robot maker, famous for the Go2 and H1 humanoid. Often featured dancing on viral CCTV broadcasts. Shenzhen showroom accepts tour visits. Known for affordability — the Go2 retails for ~¥10,000, making it hobbyist-accessible.

(文远知行)Tech

Guangzhou-based autonomous driving company, NASDAQ-listed in 2024. Operates robotaxi, robobus, and autonomous street sweeper fleets. Active in Guangzhou and Beijing. Not currently the dominant operator in Shenzhen proper — that is Pony.ai.

Xpeng

(小鹏汽车)Tech

Guangzhou-based electric vehicle maker, NASDAQ- and HKEX-listed. Known for the P7 sedan and G9 SUV, and its XNGP autonomous driving stack. Shenzhen flagship showroom in Nanshan displays current models; self-parking demos available by appointment.
